After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. Board Layout and Features cont.
One of the things that makes this motherboard unique is completely based around the chipset. As you can imagine since the SL-865Pro-775 is using the (Springdale) i865PE both dual channel DDR400 and AGP 8x are fully supported so there no need to upgrade your video card or memory beyond what you should already have.
When it comes to overclocking, knowing exactly what the system is doing during the initial CMOS booting process is critical. DIY Pro: is an on-board Debug LED that detects and reports any errors with your the system installation. While you can purchase something similar on your own, having the feature onboard is very helpful.
The ATX connector is fairly typical with built in support for 4 USB, 1 Firewire, and onboard Ethernet.
Product documentation
Normally I'm not one to comment on product packaging but the "Get Soltek, Get Pro" logo was too good to pass up. Having seen quite a few Soltek boxes in the past I can honestly say this is by far one of the best, there is even a flap that opens up to tell you more about the product.
Not only does this Proseries motherboard come packed with onboard features but they also come with a wide variety of included goodies. Documentation is pretty typical and includes a quick start guide, motherboard manual, warranty card, Bonus pack software and manual, Raid driver disk and system driver CD.
Other included goodies include 2x ATA133 80wire ribbon cables, 4x SATA cables, 4x Molex to SATA power adaptors, Purple machine rounded ATA133 cable, purple floppy cable, Extra USB ports and ATX back plate.
