After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Introduction

Over the past few months the Ninjalane Labs has reviewed quite a few Athlon64 motherboards and while most of them were of Soltek origin all of them featured the 754pin Athlon64 processor. We were fortunate enough to acquire an early Athlon64 based on the Clawhammer core with a 1 Meg of L2 cache and because of this many of our reviews have been favorable in terms of performance.
Having seen the performance of the Athlon64 first hand it was quite exciting to have the 754's bigger brother in the lab. But does the processor really hold the illusion and promise of better performance and bragging rights??
In this review we will be looking at the VIA K8T800 Pro enabled motherboard from Soltek the SL-K8Tpro-939. As you can guess from the title this board supports the Athlon64 939 processor giving you everything found in the 754 pin version and a dual channel memory controller.
The PCB is black with purple and gold expansion slots, this color theme has been around for quite some time having started with the "Black Thunder" series quite some time ago. Aside from the Soltek logo you won't find any fancy graphics on the front or back of this board.
