After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Included Goodies

The QNAP NMP-1000 Media Player comes with most everything you need to get the NAS unit hooked up and working right out of the box.

Some cables you will not use depending on your home theater setup but you get RCA audio and video cables, a single HDMI cable, network and USB.  There are a few cables missing that you have connections for including optical audio, component video and s-video.
The included manual is over 200 pages long and supports 8 languages.  The manual does not go into depth on using the NMP-1000 but does explain all of the major features and proves to be an excellent reference guide for the included remote.
The remote is fully featured meaning that you can control most every aspect of the NMP-1000 from across the room.  Some of the more complex settings are also accessible over the network using the included software and NMP-1000 web interface.
