After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Introduction

These days a home network really is a must as it can do so much for you.  As most of you know a network is a way to link a series of computers together so they can share information.  For instance a home network can enable you to share a single Internet connection with your entire family.  A side benefit to this is that you can transfer data between these family computers.

To extend this concept even further you can store data in a central location and access it from any computer in the house, show movies on your TV, and even backup important documents from your main workstation. This is where a NAS comes in. A NAS, or Network Attached Storage, is a centrally located network storage device that acts as a repository for any data you wish to store.

In this review we will be looking at the latest NAS from QNAP called the TS-219P.  This is a professional grade NAS device that can not only store your valuable data but also doubles as an application server to do things like serve up webpages, download torrents, organize your music catalog, and even interface a video security system.
