After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

Once un-boxed we were able to examine the drives and we definitely like the look and feel of them. Finished in a matte black with chrome plated accents the drives have a high quality look and feel.

The drive is fully encased with the obligatory warranty void sticker on the seam so we won't be doing any SSD "autopsy" photos today. On one side of the drive is a large easy to read sticker with all of the important information, on the other is the name Super Talent in chrome letters.
The drives we are testing are 2.5 inch SSDs so they are considerably smaller than the traditional 3.5 inch drives we are accustomed to in our desktop machine. The much smaller size along with the other benefits like silent operation and no heat are also great things to consider when replacing standard hard drives.
Compared to a single Western Digital Raptor you get an idea of the size difference between the two formats. Most of us build or at least work on our own machines and would appreciate the added room these drives will open up as well as being able to mount them tucked away in areas with little airflow.
