XFX NVidia G-Force 6600 GT Review @ Marns CDA
Published: Tuesday, February 8, 2005 | By: DennisPhj34r the change, be the Sniff and Scurry, and read the writing on the wall. No its not another "Who Moved My Cheese" flash back but real life. (don't ask)
"With all the new products coming out sometimes it is really hard to keep up with every new innovation without putting yourself in the poor house.. It seems every time you turn around the industry changes some sort of standard and what you bought a month ago is now obsolete."
AGP vs PCIe, what one do you go with? -
How Motherboards Are Made: A Gigabyte Factory Tour @ PCStats
Published: Tuesday, February 8, 2005 | By: Dennis"Final Assembly
In the next series of steps, workers adds the last couple of necessary components onto the board. Any required chipset heatsinks are added here as well as the plastic CPU retention bracket, and motherboard battery. When this is complete, the boards are sent off to Quality Assurance for testing."
I love these factory tours, though unfortunately there aren't many motherboard mfgs in Idaho. -
Atake HDD Sink Review @ Ascully
Published: Tuesday, February 8, 2005 | By: DennisFor a passive HDD cooler this one from Atake is pretty darn sweet. I'm beginning to think that Atake needs to send us some stuff for review.. hummmmm.
"Once you open the package you will see that this product is beyond simplicity. It ain't high concept people. It's basically two strips of thick aluminum with a couple of hunks of rubber attached, but as you can guess, there is a little more to it than that as we will see later in the review." -
Hardcore Hard Drive Modding Guide @ CaseModGod
Published: Tuesday, February 8, 2005 | By: DennisIt’s not really hardcore since we have seen these sorts of things before but they do change things up a bit.
"We don't want the drive platters to get dusty do we? Have to store it in a DUST FREE environment!"
Dust Free, Hahaha!
You'll have to check out the mod to see why I'm laughing. -
Another tiny photon cannon @ Dans Data
Published: Tuesday, February 8, 2005 | By: DennisGadgets galore should really be the name of this site.
"The Micra is noticeably brighter than my Arc-LS, despite the fact that I've got an LSH-P, which is a special shiny premium version that would have cost me a lot more than a Micra would today - if, ah, I hadn't been given both of the lights for free, that is." -
XFX GeForce 6600 GT Dual-DVI @ Hexus
Published: Friday, February 4, 2005 | By: DennisI tried really hard to get one of these cards for review but something was lost in the communication.
"XFX has already raised memory speed to an impressive 1200MHz but has left the core at the 6600 GT default clock of 500MHz. Overclocking was carried out without any additional cooling directed at the card. Of course, overclocking isn't a repeatable science, and your overclock may vary considerably. Our sample managed to run solidly at 580MHz core and 1265MHz RAM. "
I think we need to try harder at getting a review sample. -
Lighted Wiring Tubes Modding Guide @ CaseModGod
Published: Friday, February 4, 2005 | By: DennisNow here is something really cool! This is actually a very simple mod but does wonders for enhancing style.

ABIT Fatal1ty AA8XE Review @ OCTools
Published: Friday, February 4, 2005 | By: DennisThis is a very bold statement, not excatly in a Pulp fiction sort of way but very close.
"This is the most overclockable Intel P4 board that money can buy to date. Finally, here's an extreme board that can go the distance as long as you have the right components to go with it. We've never seen any board that can overclock like this out of the box and with such ease" -
Properly Glue Acrylic or Plexi @ Tech-Mods
Published: Friday, February 4, 2005 | By: DennisThis is pretty good for those curious about gluing plastic.
"I’ve seen many people ask what the best way to glue acrylic or plexi, was, so I decided to write up this little guide to help show the easy way to achieve nice clear and strong factory results. With this procedure I can not stress how important it is to take caution when using this glue."
The article is even complete with pictures, not sure where you will find a syringe but when you do be sure it’s clean. -
Newly Designed Kanguru QuickSilver
Published: Friday, February 4, 2005 | By: Dennis"Kanguru Solutions will be releasing the newly redesigned Kanguru QuickSilver External Hard Drive. This product features an exterior alloy casing that dissipates heat, the option to stand vertical or lay horizontal, as well as a blue Kanguru LED that lights up when this 7200RPM drive is powered on."
These external HDD units are really cool until the internal controller board goes bad thus forcing you to throw the whole unit away. That's pretty much what happened with the one we reviewed back in '03.
