  • Audiotrak MAYA44 MKII Review @ Digit-Life

Published: Wednesday, February 25, 2004 | By: Dennis

"Disadvantages (like no hardware 3D sound and EAX support for games) are so only if you misunderstand the purpose of this sound card. But, fortunately, you can just install two or three more sound cards into your system to use each accordingly its purpose."
The card looks really cool but isn't really designed for gamers. It does have some pretty amazing features.

  • Sapphire Radeon 9600 XT - 256mb @ Overclocker Cafe

Published: Wednesday, February 25, 2004 | By: Dennis

" What has made me curious however has been the differences between the 128 and 256mb versions of these midrange cards. The extra 128mb of memory typically comes at a cost of around $30. Is this a well spent $30 is what I want to know. Today, we have one of Sapphire's 9600 XT 256mb cards on the bench to review, while hopefully addressing the 128mb question."
Do you think the extra 128mb is worth it? I don't either.

  • ATI Radeon 9600XT Review @ Ascully

Published: Wednesday, February 25, 2004 | By: Dennis

I picked to post this review not because it was of an ATI 9600XT but rather because the article number says "eet" big grin smile
"The difference in appearance on the card is more than a cosmetic though. The new super quiet heatsink/fan assembly is all new for the 9600 XT. Not only does it look awesome, HTPC owners will be pleased to hear it's almost silent so this makes it a great choice to put inside home theater/SFF Gaming PC's."
Just one of the many criteria considered for Ninjalane news worthiness. tongue smile

  • Danger Den RBX Review Update

Published: Wednesday, February 25, 2004 | By: Dennis

Just have a minor update to the RBX review. It would appear that the showerhead accelerator nozzle is actually #5 and not #2. The review has been updated to reflect the change.

  • DFI LANParty vs. ABIT @ HotHardware

Published: Tuesday, February 24, 2004 | By: Dennis

Even before looking at the review you can pretty much guess that the battle will take place on the nForce2 platform, it just seems like the right match-up.
"While initially you may be thinking these two motherboards are going to be just your run-of-the-mill type nForce2 Ultra motherboards, you could be in for a nice surprise, since they come from the likes of Abit and DFI. Both of these motherboards aim to truly please the enthusiast crowd with a unique set of BIOS tools. DFI touts its "CMOS Reloaded" feature while the ABIT AN7 bears its own "µGuru" trademark."
Two boards, one review, and the review date set to Feb 29th 2004, somethings messed up here. tongue smile

  • Hollywood and Game Developers @ ipKonfig

Published: Tuesday, February 24, 2004 | By: Dennis

Hollywood and games kind of go hand in hand though if you think about it how often has the game actually been an accurate extension of the movie you saw the previous month?
"Hollywood Video games, now there's an oxymoron--or is it? Today's games are heading for a major change, one that's beneficial for players. Hollywood is now getting deeply involved with game designers to achieve more realistic games, introducing favorite actors and characters such as James Bond. The added value? Entertainment!"

  • Intel adding 64-bit extensions to its Xeon line

Published: Monday, February 23, 2004 | By: Dennis

"Intel will start volume production of its 90nm, 32-bit Nocona server processors with 64-bit extensions in the second quarter, company CEO Craig Barrett said at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) being held in San Francisco.

In addition, Intel will add 64-bit extensions to a number of its Xeon line, including the Potomac and Prescott processors, Barrett said. Volume deliveries of the Potomac will begin in 2005."

  • Chaintech ZNF3-150 Review @ TheCrucible

Published: Monday, February 23, 2004 | By: Dennis

We recently reviewed this motherboard and found it to be one of the best combo boards around. A must buy for the Athlon64 itch you just have to scratch.
"The ZNF3-150 should definitely be a great overclocker. On paper it has every conceivable option covered. In reality though, things were pretty grim. No matter what settings I used in the bios, the ZNF3-150 would not save the memory timings."
Last I checked you can't adjust the memory timings on this board, though it has been awhile since I updated the BIOS so who knows.

  • PolarFlo GPU Block Review @ GruntvillE

Published: Monday, February 23, 2004 | By: Dennis

" "We do not encourage changing hose connectors or tampering with the assembly in any way."

So of course, we took the plugs and barbs out and replaced them. Why does PolarFLO tell you not to do this. Well, look at the next pic."

And just to think the leaky block gets editors choice, king of the hill, and recommended awards.
