  • Epox 8KDA3+ nForce3 250Gb Motherboard Review @ PCStats

Published: Saturday, June 5, 2004 | By: Dennis

Epox motherboards were always famous in the enthusiast market for great overclockability and performance. Does 8KDA3+ stand up for Epox's name? Read up to find out.
"When it comes to enthusiasts, the Epox name is well known. In fact I know of many overclockers that wait to check out Epox's take on new chipsets before buying a new motherboard... Now that the nVidia nForce3-250 chipset is upon us, I think we'll see a few more enthusiasts jump on the Athlon64 bandwagon. After all, the biggest obstacle from an enthusiasts perspective are the system peripherals that don'y like to run out of sync. That can cause a lot of the headaches."

  • Asetek Antarctica KT03A-L30 WaterChill CPU Cooling Kit Review @ Hi-TechReviews

Published: Friday, June 4, 2004 | By: Dennis

Asetek is famous for their Vapochill systems, as well as their watercooling kits. This new kit features the new Antarctica waterblock, with the ever popular 3-barb design. We reviewed the block not too long ago, you can read it up here.
"Summer is here and with it comes the high processors temperatures. If you happen to still be using air-cooling you have the option of putting enough fans in your case that it will blow CDs out of your drives. Or you could invest in the silent method of cooling and go with the Asetek Antarctica."

  • Abit's KV8 Pro Motherboard Review @ The Tech Report

Published: Friday, June 4, 2004 | By: Dennis

After Socket 939 was launched this week at Taipei, it would seem the logical thing would be to get the newest thing. However, with AMD's new chips' prices starting from $500 it might be too expensive for most of us. Socket 754 systems can still hold their own when it comes to performance, especially overclocked wink smile.
"And let me tell you, the KV8 Pro is pretty sweet. With competitive performance, a working AGP/PCI lock, the most feature-rich BIOS I've ever seen, and the ability to lower the CPU multiplier, the KV8 Pro could very well be the best Athlon 64 platform for budget-conscious enthusiasts and MHz-starved overclockers. Read on for a detailed look at the KV8 Pro's features, performance, and intriguing overclocking potential."

  • XICE ExternalCool E900 Review @ Hard-h2o

Published: Friday, June 4, 2004 | By: Dennis

This is an interesting review of a stand-alone watercooling unit. I could see how external boxes holding watercooling components will be even more popular in the future, because you basically have more advantages over the regular watercooling unit sitting inside your case.
"There are two features that are important, even critical, when we choose to install a watercooling kit in our cases: firstly, and the main advantage for many people, we have the possibility to overclock the computer; secondly, but not less important, we can achieve a good performance with a low level of noise, without any doubt something we all wish."

  • Computex Extra Days

Published: Friday, June 4, 2004 | By: Dennis

As it would turn out I've been having problems with my laptop here in Taiwan so my nightly updates have been taking longer than had expected. The new plan is to have the remaining days posted once I get back to the states.

Not an ideal solution but is better than nothing.

  • AMD FX53 Socket 939 @ AMD Review

Published: Thursday, June 3, 2004 | By: Dennis

Here is one more review on that latest from AMD. Check it out to see some impressive benchmark numbers. This new socket might become the standard for new AMD platforms very soon.
"During the Socket 940 FX's reign of terror, many computer enthusiasts saw how much kick ass power the FX 51 had as well as the FX 53. Most people shuttered hearing the early FX chips had to use Registered/ECC RAM because that type of RAM is slower than the regular unbuffered RAM. Today we will be examining the Socket 939 FX 53."

  • ABIT IC7-MAX3 S478 Motherboard Review @ Accelnation

Published: Wednesday, June 2, 2004 | By: Dennis

Abit IC7-MAX3 was probably the most highly rated P4 motherboard ever released. It received (and still does) rave reviews all over internet because of it's great performance and extensive list of features. Here is another review that proves just that.
"Abit has always been known for producing enthusiast level motherboards. With each new generation of chipset and processor Abit was there with a high performance and extremely tweakable motherboard. Approximately two years ago Abit launched a line of motherboards that were aimed at the enthusiast that wanted maximal tweakability and performance. These high-end boards carried the “MAX” moniker. The first “MAX” board to come out was a KT333 based solution followed by 845E, 845PE, and KT400 solutions."

  • Sapphire Radeon X800 PRO Review @ Beyond3D

Published: Wednesday, June 2, 2004 | By: Dennis

Sapphire made it's name with their high quality video cards and affordable prices. One of their most popular video card was based on ATI's Radeon 9800 Pro chipsets. Can X800 Pro be the next best seller? Check out this review and find out.
"The board is more or less the same as the ATI reference X800 PRO, using the same PCB design and the reference cooler. This particular version doesn't feature any video in functionality, hence there is no Rage Theater chip on the board, or is there the internal VIVO connector as seen on the ATI reference boards (next to the internal power supply connector. The only other differences noticeable are the purple power supply connector and a different sticker on the heat-sink!"
