XGI targets global desktop graphics
Published: Tuesday, November 25, 2003 | By: Dennis"XGI Technology, which entered mass production of its desktop-use Volari graphics chips this month, aims to capture a 5-10% global market share in the desktop graphics chip market next year, company president Chris Lin said.
Being a newer and much smaller player than Nvidia and ATI, XGI is prioritizing Europe as its first target market, as it is easier to find reasonably-sized partners in the various national markets." -
Intel to cut P4 chipset prices
Published: Tuesday, November 25, 2003 | By: Dennis"Intel, preparing for its upcoming Grantsdale line, will cut 865 series chipset pricing by as much as 6.3% on December 28.
According to Intel’s roadmap, it will launch Grantsdale P and Grantsdale G chipsets supporting the new-generation Socket T (LGA775) Prescott processor in the second quarter of 2004. Since the entry-level Grantsdale GV and Grantsdale GL will not be introduced until the third quarter of next year, Intel has decided to keep the prices of the 845 series flat, with the exception of the 845GE chipset."
I haven't actually seen a Socket T yet. -

MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R Reviews
Published: Monday, November 24, 2003 | By: DennisThis is the VIA enabled K8 board for the Athlon64 3200+.
Neo-FIS2R Review @ Bjorn3D
"The motherboard sports the Via K8T800 chipset and plenty of special MSI features, such as CoreCell, Live Update, CoreCenter and Dynamic Overclocking. Let's get introduced to the board and then eventually look at some numbers comparing it to an nForce2 system with a 2500+ overclocked to 3200+ (2.2GHz)."
Neo-FIS2R Review @ ViperLair
"As with all of MSI's motherboards, the K8T Neo-FIS2R sports the trademark red PCB. Layout-wise, MSI did a fine job here, giving each area enough room where you shouldn't have any issues installing and removing components. A traditional problem spot, the AGP slot and ram slot, is nonexistent here as there is plenty of space between them."
As much as I like red PCB's I doubt I will ever have a MSI board on the test bench. -

ASUS K8V Deluxe Review @ Digit-Life
Published: Friday, November 21, 2003 | By: DennisOMG! Another Asus motherboard with a black PCB! What is this world coming to?!?
"The company hasn't changed the traditional board design and hasn't moved memory sockets to CPU realigned, as seen on some prototypes."

Prodigy 7.1 vs. Revolution 7.1 @ TechConnect
Published: Friday, November 21, 2003 | By: Dennis"The VIA Envy24 was designed for users who look into something more than listening to music, while the Envy24HT is the "consumer" edition of the Envy24. Both are excellent chips and do have exceptional value. In computer multimedia terms, the Envy24 cards are currently the best offerings as far as sound quality concerns us."
I've been pretty impressed with the current Audiotrak sound cards but they are rather difficult to get here in the US. M-Audio on the other hand is fairly common but appears to be geared more for the MAC side of things. -
Zippy EL-715 Review @ PC Abusers
Published: Friday, November 21, 2003 | By: DennisThis is basically the big brother to the Zippy EL-610 that we reviewed earlier this year.
"Maybe I was spoiled from the first Zippy lighted keyboard. This EL-715 would have been a major winner had it used the exact same keys and lighting as the EL-610. As it is, it is still easier to see than any non-lighted keyboard."
The major feature is how the keyboard lights up but for a full sized keyboard it is rather cumbersome to type on.
