Father of H-bomb Dies
Published: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 | By: Dennis"Some might not agree with his intensity and politics and so forth, but everyone respected him," Bob Kuckuck, a former lab deputy director, said Tuesday evening. "You couldn't interact with Edward without feeling he was three or four magnitudes deeper than you were on an issue."
Now that is one smart cookie, he will be missed. -

COOLINK Cool Tank1 Review @ MadShrimps
Published: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 | By: Dennis"When I opened the side-panel of the Superflower case I saw a drop in CPU load temperature to 40°C, shortly followed by a noticeable slow-down of the CPU fan, which then only produced a medium humming noise. When running at full speed it is considerably louder and can't really be called a "silent" solution."
The cool thing about this heatsink is that they put the thermal probe in the right spot, smack dab in the center of the heatsink and far away from the fan. -
PolarFLO Water Block Review @ Systemcooling
Published: Tuesday, September 9, 2003 | By: DennisSystemcooling is looking at the 3-port water block called the PolarFLO. Maybe it is just me but this new design appears to be getting quite popular.
"The PolarFLO is an impressive looking block, and the quality of machining rivals some of the mainstream manufacturer products out there. It definitely rates high in appearance for exterior fit and finish. The base checked flat with my machinist straight edge and upon removal I found a good imprint in the thermal compound from the CPU die." -
Mission II water Cooling @ GideonTech
Published: Tuesday, September 9, 2003 | By: Dennis"For the test, I will be using my media server. It houses over 500GB of storage space for music and movies, outputted to my home theatre system. The CPU is a P4 1.6a capable of running at a nice 133FSB (2.1Ghz)."
Its not very smart to overclock a server since data corruption is such a common occurrence, but to each their own. -
ThermoChill Water Block Review @ ModFathers
Published: Monday, September 8, 2003 | By: DennisI've started paying a little more attention to waterblocks and certain water cooling kits and the 3 port models really intrigue me. Basically you have in inlet port that dumps water directly over where the processor core is with the outlet ports being near the edges on opposite sides. Quite a few companies are building blocks like this and each one is slightly different.
"The three chrome barbs are hard to miss, with the two outer ones leaning drunkenly. This is not bad drilling, but a design feature; it it to aid the smooth exit of the water." -
Athenatech A100SC M-ATX Case Review @ MonkeyReview
Published: Monday, September 8, 2003 | By: Dennis"Once I removed the A100SC from the packaging, I quickly noticed the very nicely done silver finish, which in my opinion is one of the nicer ones that I’ve seen."
Ya it looks good,
*sigh*

Buffalo PC3200 Review @ FastLaneHW
Published: Monday, September 8, 2003 | By: Dennis"Buffalo has done away completely with useless fluff like heatspreaders, fancy packaging, "dual channel kits" found on other brands, and they're throwing in exactly what we want-- memory! The Buffalo PC3200 256MB is single-sided, and uses the new 0.13u variation of the Winbond chips, dubbed CH-5. If you haven't already heard the story about these chips, you'll be sure to hear it on the Testing page of this article."
Winbond makes some pretty good memory though this review is a little funky to say the least. They are using DRAM voltage to determine memory timings but fail to mention that overvolting your memory causes a little more harm than good. Then again so does overclocking so do what you like. -
