  • Palit Daytona GeForceFX 5200 Ultra Review @ OCModShop

Published: Wednesday, August 20, 2003 | By: Dennis

Now here is something you don't see every day, a FX5200u with a purple PCB and TinyBGA memory. Not a bad combo if you ask me. big grin smile
"This video card comes with an active heatsink which is nice because normally budget video cards only have a passive heatsink. I slowly overclocked the card little by little so that it would be able to burn in and adjust. After slowly increasing the speed of the card I reached the highest stable speed which was 370MHz core and 670MHz memory."

Like the title says there is a nice overview of the latest products from CoolerMaster from heatsinks to fan controllers.
"CoolerMaster are well known by their range of high quality aluminium casings. Their cool, futuristic designs and solid builds with full aluminium will put all those plastic and steel casing to shame. CoolerMaster also make heatsink fan for CPU, they were the first to put in heatpipes inside the heatsink to help in conducting the heats away. "

  • Albatron Gigi FX5600EQ 256Meg Review @ Tweaknews

Published: Tuesday, August 19, 2003 | By: Dennis

I was looking at some FX5600 video cards with 256megs of ram and none of them had the higher quality TinyBGA video memory. Most companies opted for the cheaper TOSP style and just put more on there.
"The onboard ram consists of four 64meg 5.0ns ram rated at a speed of 400Mhz. With a stock memory clock of 400Mhz, any possible overclocking headroom will be minimal. But more on that in the overclocking section of this review."

I'm not sure I have ever actually seen a microATX nForce2 motherboard until now and it actually has some potential. happy smile
"This is one solid motherboard, nforce2 chipset, overclocking potential, small micro ATX form. This is a perfect board for a LAN party system. It allows you to use a smaller case since it has onboard sound and LAN all you need for a power system is a graphics card, a high end Nivida or ATI video card."

" Overall the A474 Series case it a rather nice case. There are only two spots on the case for fans, but the hole in the side panel does help with the cooling. The finish on the case is quite nice and is rather shiny."
Here is a good quality case just waiting to be modded. tongue smile Though the quick release side panel requires two hands to remove.

  • BFG Asylum 5600 Ultra @ Gamers Depot

Published: Tuesday, August 19, 2003 | By: Dennis

Here is a GeForceFX card with a fancy blue PCB with some shiny cooling gear. The card appears to be well built using tiny BGA memory and flip chip construction. Though the ram coolers appear to be rather small, by comparison.
"We tested our card against a reference NVIDIA unit and found that it – across the board – was generally faster; especially when overclocked. The performance of this card should be highly regarded when comparing it to other 5600-based video cards or even an ATI 9600 Pro."

Published: Tuesday, August 19, 2003 | By: Dennis

Here is one that got buried in my inbox for a spell.
"For those users looking for a very overclockable memory solution, and aren't afraid to do a little tweaking, Kingston's HyperX 4000 memory is a good choice, with our HyperX 4000 reaching 260MHz stable 1:1. For those users unable or unwilling to make the aforementioned adjustments, there may be better memory solutions available."

  • Project Rebirth @ Mikhailtech

Published: Monday, August 18, 2003 | By: Dennis

"For years the beige computer case has been the staple of any system, with the movement towards premodded cases only occurring recently. This project article keeps that in mind, as many people have a beige case sitting around gathering dust or holding a system. The goal of Project Rebirth was to take a usual, run of the mill beige ATX mid-tower case and transform it into a custom modded case complete with a high quality finish."
High quality runs of the mill too. big grin smile Kind of brings back memories and reminds me that I have another one to finish up.

  • Cooler Master Centurion Case Review @ hardwarezoom

Published: Monday, August 18, 2003 | By: Dennis

I really like the styling of this case; the front grill kind of says "elegant old school" while the rest of the case appears to be solid enough to stand up to some pretty extreme modding.
"The selling point of this casing is the price and aluminium front bezel. If you do not mind the steel structure inside, Cooler Master Centurion is as beautiful as the more expensive full aluminium casing."
The review is pretty heavy on the photos but still gets the point across. wink smile
