ATI AIW 9800 Pro Review @ Tech Juice
Published: Monday, August 11, 2003 | By: DennisThe juice is loose and reviewing the latest and greatest ATI chip the 9800 Pro. This is the famed AIW (All-In-Wonder) version meaning that not only can you play games with it but you can also watch TV and record movies.
"The ALL-IN-Wonder 9800 Pro is still for the multi media enthusiast that wants it all. But if you are still a hardcore gamer there is little reason to look elsewhere this time as the newer model does quite well in the overall 3D gaming benchmarking arena. Awesome as it were. The ALL-IN-Wonder 9800 Pro was not meant solely for gaming either." -
EPoX 8KRA2+ Review @ Techware Labs
Published: Monday, August 11, 2003 | By: DennisThis Epox motherboard is sporting the new VIA KT600 chipset that fully supports the new 200Mhz FSB Athlon processors. Unlike the nForce2 it still uses a single channel memory controller.
"The VIA KT600 Northbridge is sheltered by a large copper passive heatsink. The larger heatsink dimension of 1.5" x 1.5" x 1.25" is suppose to compensate for the lack of a heatsink cooling fan. Beneath the heatsink is the VIA KT600 northbridge. EPoX used the sticky pink thermal compound commonly found on stock AMD coolers."
Has anyone noticed how all of the new Epox motherboards are looking alike now days?? Epox EP-8RDA+ for board layout comparison. -

Xoxide X-Viper Case Review @ PimpRig
Published: Monday, August 11, 2003 | By: Dennis"I was very impressed with how well the window was cut, the corners are perfectly rounded and the edge is smooth as silk. All of the fans are branded as iCute fans, but I have no more information on CFM, RPM, or dB."
Here is one of them "pre-modded" cases from Xoxide. As a modder I will always lean towards a good high quality "un-modded" case over a cheaply constructed "pre-mod".
But that is just me. -
Bawls and Co-Ed Naked Counterstrike
Published: Sunday, August 10, 2003 | By: DennisNormally I wouldn't include such things as Counterstrike but by adding the words "Naked" and "Bawls" you get something so curious only a "confirmation click" can satisfy the urge. Blame ZZZ online Number 174 for the sexual reference, and hot chix

Thermaltake Silent Boost Review @ Legit Reviews
Published: Sunday, August 10, 2003 | By: DennisHere is a new heatsink from Thermaltake called the "Silent Boost".
"I found it ironic that the day after I was complaining about how I wanted a heatsink that was silent yet could handle the healthy 800Mhz overclock on our Athlon 1700+ office computer, the Silent Boost arrived. Not only is it darn close to being silent it also allows for some pretty heavy overclocking. This was a major factor to us as we didn't want to loose any system performance by going to a quieter heatsink and fan. Thanks to the Thermaltake Silent Boost, we didn't!"
Be sure to check out our Volcano 11+ Review to get a rough idea as to how well this new heatsink will perform. -
SteelPad 4S Optical Review @ Modsynergy
Published: Sunday, August 10, 2003 | By: Dennis"During using this mouse pad, it provided smooth tracking with no problems. As usual the Logitech MX700 is the only mouse that seems to have problems with some mouse pads and that is present with the SteelPad 4S. The Crystal mouse and my Logitech Optical Wheel mouse work flawlessly. The only downfall is some people will not like the noise that comes from the mouse pad. The mouse skates dampen the sound out but not all."
I can't imagine the Steelpad being any noisier than a RatPadz but then again we are dealing with metal and a resonation frequency so anything is possible. -
Corsair TwinX512-4000 Review @ Intelforums
Published: Sunday, August 10, 2003 | By: Dennis" As mentioned, the TwinX512-4000 kit consists of a matched pair of 256 megabyte PC4000 modules, pretested to 'run at DDR500 (250 MHz) on a Canterwood based dual-channel motherboard.' Being a leading manufacturer of high performance memory modules for nearly 10 years now, we have been historically very impressed with Corsair modules, and expect no different from their TwinX512-4000 offering"
They didn't have much luck overclocking these modules but if you think about it DDR500 is already a pretty good overclock. -
9800 PRO or 5900 Ultra? Buy the 9800 Cheap
Published: Friday, August 8, 2003 | By: Dennis"This puzzler has challenged the greatest minds of our times, ignited ferocious PR wars, and divided an industry turning brother against brother. Now, the decision just got a whole lot easier. CompUSA is offering VisionTek's XTASY 9800 PRO 128MB on their web site, for a limited time, at just $299 after rebates."
Ah yes the lovely rebate, you buy an item at full price then send in your proof of purchase and wait for the next 3 months for your money to come in.
Personally I think the store that you bought the item at should handle the rebate so you get instant savings, otherwise I'd suggest that you just buy online. -
