Opening Stealth Cd-Roms @ Twisted Mods
Published: Monday, May 12, 2003 | By: DennisHere is a mod of a mod.
" One problem I’ve noticed with stealth drives is finding something to use to get the button to work. I’ve tried stacking foam tape, taping small object to the button, and even gluing case screws to it. I finally decided I’d try something else. This guide will show you how to make an externally mounted button for your stealth drive. It will also show you a great mounting idea if you have a Lian Li case." -
Interview with VIA @ AcceleNation
Published: Monday, May 12, 2003 | By: DennisThis looks to be the first of a multi part interview with VIA, they have Tim Handley of CPU Marketing under the hot lamps today.
"VIA recently announced the CME400 chipset with support for a 200 MHz GTL+ Front Side Bus, how much a performance increase should users expect with a 200 MHz FSB C3?" -
Chaintech 9CJS Review @ TweakTown
Published: Sunday, May 11, 2003 | By: Dennis"On the same day as Intel’s release of the I875P, Chaintech announced its very first board based on this new chipset, a board which has been described as everything you’ll ever need for your ultimate PC performance. Do these claims hold true? Read on and find out."
This isn't your typical Chaintech motherboard, black PCB, baby blue PCI slots, screwdriver set, multimedia bay, etc... I would question some of the reported specs though. -
Half-Life 2 Preview @ Shacknews
Published: Friday, May 9, 2003 | By: DennisIt is hard to decide what one is better Doom III or Half-Life 2 but you know, it doesn't really matter since I'll be buying them both.
"When I was being shown Half-Life 2, I was ready to drop a load in my pants. Yeah I said it, quote that. I hid it well from the Valve guys I think, but it was there, and I was dying to dive across the table and take the controls." -
AOpen AX4C Max Review @ HardwareZone
Published: Thursday, May 8, 2003 | By: Dennis"In terms of performance, the board could really do better. Compared with the faster Canterwood boards like ASUS and MSI, the AOpen AX4C Max is anywhere between 3% to 5% slower and that's quite a bit in today's high performance systems. The only consolation is that it's not under-performing as it's still in the same ballpark as the Intel D875PBZ and Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Ultra."
Considering the features I wouldn't rule this mobo out of the Canterwood workstation race but the enthusiast might look for something different. -
All in One News Post
Published: Thursday, May 8, 2003 | By: DennisI doubt that this will be a normal occurrence but I'm pretty busy today. I'm still in the process of writing part 1 of the Casemodding series and during the breaks I've been planning out an ultimate mod. I can't really talk about at this time
but I promise there will be more information soon.
Here is some of todays news
ATI All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro Review @ 3dXtreme
Eluminx Keyboard Review @ Furioustech
Via EPIA M10000 Review @ Dans Data talk about supa small mobo
Antec TrueControl 550Watt Powersupply Review @ DataFuse
Well that just about wraps up the small things. Now on to the bigger and better. -
Pentium 4 2.4C Overclocking Tests @ HardOCP
Published: Wednesday, May 7, 2003 | By: Dennis" For those of you that do not know, the Pentium 4 "C" processors are the ones that use the new 800MHz Front Side Bus supported by the recently introduced i875 chipset codenamed Canterwood. These chips also support HyperThreading technology."
Looks like 3.5Ghz was the highest "sorta" stable OC they got from the processor while using a Koolance Exos to keep things cool. -
Prototype iLoo to Debut at Summer Festivals
Published: Wednesday, May 7, 2003 | By: DennisNot a bad idea, a port-a-potty with Internet access that even includes a plasma screen for easy viewing.
"Davies also raised concerns about the long lines. "Like my father always said: "Get in, get it out, get out,"" he said. Whittingham agreed people might take longer in the toilet because of the Internet access. "If they take too long — say, hours — we’ll probably bang on the door or something," he said.
Security is another issue. Because of the expensive hardware inside, Microsoft plans to post a guard to protect the iLoo. "
Do you think the guard will be armed?? -
Innovatek Watercooler Review @ Systemcooling
Published: Tuesday, May 6, 2003 | By: Dennis"Innovatek is based in Germany and uses a low flow approach to CPU cooling with a highly efficient water block design. They manufacture and sell individual components as well as offering complete kits for both AMD Socket A and Intel P4, Socket 478. We have the Socket A kit to evaluate."
I just ordered the Pentium 4 version of this kit from Xoxide the other day and should be here pretty soon.
