XFX 5700 Ultra Review @ OCModShop
Published: Thursday, June 24, 2004 | By: DennisIt is rather difficult to tell but due to the overclock and other aspects of the review the card appears to be the DDR2 enabled 5700 Ultra and not the DDR3 version that we reviewed here.
"XFX sent over a GeforceFX 5700 Ultra with dual DVI and VIVO for me to review. I recently reviewed a XFX GeForceFX 5600 Ultra which turned out to be a really good card."
Despite this the XFX stuff is a super video card buy that gives you just a little something extra. -

Actually even approved voltages can sometimes not be enough, depending on what you are trying to accomplish. -

Doom III Release Date!!
Published: Wednesday, June 23, 2004 | By: DennisAccording to EB Games and GameStop Doom 3 will be available on Aug 3rd 2004. This is an exciting time for those of us that have been waiting.
The sad part about the whole deal is that many enthusiasts bought hardware for a Christmas 2003 release are now stuck with outdated equipment. I guess it pays to wait, sometimes. -
NL: Review Block - Intel 775 Stuff
Published: Monday, June 21, 2004 | By: DennisThe new 775 processor was released over the weekend though despite having a huge jump in technology (DDR2, T-Socket 775, PCI Express) the release seemed to go somewhat un-noticed.
- Intel's 915G and 925X chipsets @ The Tech Report
- Intel Pentium 4 Processor 560 and Alderwood @ Hardware Zone
- New Intel Socket 775 processors @ xBit
- 775LGA CPUs and 925/915 chipsets @ HardOCP

Sparkle GeForce FX 5700 Ultra @ accelenation
Published: Monday, June 21, 2004 | By: DennisFor some reason I get Sparkle mixed up with Sapphire, they both make video cards but for different GPU makers.
The card under review is the new midrange powerhouse FX5700 Ultra using DDR3. Most everyone will agree that the 5900XT is the better value though the 5700U just seems cooler.
"It can be seen that our FarCry test with maximized settings really punishes this poor little Sparkle card. Even when overclocked, it still only manages to get within 60% of the performance of a Radeon 9800 pro card."
Umm I don't think using a 9800 pro is what we would call fair, but it does give you a good cross section in performance.
Be sure to check out the XFX FX5700 Ultra the card was quite an overclocker. -
Chaintech Zenith ZNF3-250 Review @ Hexus
Published: Monday, June 21, 2004 | By: DennisI wanted to review this board from Chaintech as a side by side to the 150 version that we reviewed but alas it didn't happen.
"Chaintech's not stopping there, oh no. The Zenith ZNF3-250 arrives with a bundle that make the postman's back hurt. Initial retail motherboards based on new chipsets can either be works in progress, i.e need serious BIOS overhauls, or work straight from the get go. Let's see how Chaintech does with a promising board."
It would seem that instead of using the new integrated features of the nForce3-250 chipset Chaintech retained the items found on the 150. I can't complain, it was a good bundle though overclocking could still use some improvement. -

SpaceShipOne Has Made it to Space

*Update* the craft has touched down, and Mars will be happy that M&M's have made it to sub-orbital space.
I wasn't really pulling for the Paul Allen team but he does have the bux to make it happen. Hopefully the John Carmak team can get off the ground before the deadline. -
Kingmax Hardcore PC4000 @ Envy News

Now some might prefer copper sinks over aluminum, but at least we are able to say they have them and will hopefully give us some "room to move""
DDR500, Cas3, 2.6v. I dunno about you but these just seem to be typical DDR500 modules with a fancy name. Oh, and green heatspreaders.
