DFI LanParty NF2 Ultra Review @ ModFathers
Published: Monday, June 30, 2003 | By: Dennis"The Packaging however is a different kettle of fish. The box is very big, nearly twice the thickness of a normal motherboard package. Its green with a lame picture on it, but who cares, its what inside that counts."
Lame picture huh? Well despite their comments this is a very solid motherboard. I'd suggest that you check back a little later today there might be some "eye-candy" fer ya. -
Inexpensive SCSI RAID @ A True Review
Published: Saturday, June 28, 2003 | By: DennisIt's true SCSI does rox. Wide data pipes and loud "chugga chugga" sounds give SCSI drives the Harley sound of the computer room, match 2 or more in a RAID config and it only gets better.
"I prefer SCSI because of the quality of the disks. I recommend SCSI over IDE even if you pay a few extra dollars. Even with RAID I would rather have a disk that will last twice as long than a disk that will fail quicker and need replacing. Remember any time data needs to be restored you will lose time if nothing else" -
EPoX EP-4PCA3+ Review @ HardwareZone
Published: Saturday, June 28, 2003 | By: DennisHardwareZone has some sweet Canterwood goodness from Epox.
"The feature that got everyone talking about is probably the inclusion of the HighPoint HPT374 RAID controller. That controller alone will support eight Ultra ATA-133 devices. That's not all, the controller also comes with support for various RAID configuration - something that rivals all other on-board IDE RAID offering from Promise Technology and ITE."
Gotta love onboard RAID 5. -
Painting 101 @ ModFathers
Published: Saturday, June 28, 2003 | By: DennisPainting stuff is something that I've been doing for quite some time now and really there is two basic things you need to get a great looking paint job. Prep the surface and keep it and your area clean. Doing those things properly will give you a 80% higher chance of success. The last 20% is really dependant on you and your patience.
"Well yes I choose red. I love the color unless you hadn't noticed. So I have chosen my colors, sanded the metal and primed ready to apply. After a light sand of 1200 grit of the top primer coat I apply a thin color coat. Enough to color the entire surface in an even manner as before." -
Hack Sites with NetBIOS @ KepTech
Published: Saturday, June 28, 2003 | By: DennisEver wonder how hackers/crackers break into Windows networks? Well one of the many ways is through NetBIOS. You won't discover any new hacking/cracking tekniq(s) @ KepTech but you will know how to access resources from the command line (ya know in case the Network Neighborhood is to difficult)
"NetBIOS is the easiest if not one of the easiest methods to get into somebody's computer. However, there is a condition that must be satisfied before you can hack. The condition is that the victim must have enabled File and Printer Sharing on the computer. If the victim has enabled it, then the NBTSTAT command will display one more NetBIOS name." -

PixelView FX5600 256 MB Golden Limited Review @ Guru3D
Published: Saturday, June 28, 2003 | By: DennisI am halfway tempted never to post news from/to sites that use popup ads but I guess it is just how things work out.
"There is also an additional reason why Prolink decided to name this product the 'Golden Limited'. In the upcoming pages you'll see photo's a a very unconventional coolling mechanism, it's color .. gold. Combine that with the fact that the cooling used is silent and the fact that this product can handle video in and out over Svideo and composite and you have quite a nice card below the 200 USD range." -

Gigabyte GA-8PENXP Review @ HardwareZone
Published: Saturday, June 28, 2003 | By: Dennis"One of the main reasons why users are fond of Gigabyte boards is probably the emphasis they put on storage controllers. It has always been their strongest department and they have once again strengthened their lead in this area with the GA-8PENXP. The board easily supports eight IDE devices and four SATA devices."
Just to think I always bought Gigabyte for the layout and overclocking controls but haven't paid much attention since they have moved to this "I'm on acid" PCB layout and color design. -
