Published: Friday, June 27, 2003 | By: DennisThe elusive "Connection Reset" - "Connection Refused" problem is back and as usual, is VERY annoying, the server peeps should be working to get the problem solved.
It is times like this that I wish I could afford a co-lo.

Soltek SL-86SPE-L Review @ x-bit labs
Published: Wednesday, June 25, 2003 | By: DennisThe Violet Eyes SL-86SPE-L is really a pretty cool board that a ton of potential. It would seem that the x-bit labs guys have figured out how to increase the performance of the 86SPE.
"These jumpers allow setting the default processor frequency and feature four positions: Auto, 100MHz, 133MHz and 200MHz. Although we were very much surprised to see them onboard, we have to admit that these two jumpers are a great advantage of Soltek SL-86SPE-L. On the one hand, you can disregard them completely by setting them into Auto position. But on the other hand, they allow squeezing extra performance out of the board by enabling the so-called PAT technology."
It should be noted that the Springdale chipset, unlike the Canterwood, doesn't come with PAT and according to what I have read there is no way to enable it.
Curiosity will get the better of me, so expect a small update to our SL-86SPE-L review in the near future. -

Published: Wednesday, June 25, 2003 | By: Dennis"VIA Technologies is said to have decided to terminate the operations of its VIA Platform Solutions Division (VPSD) and will transfer all the division’s products and assets to First International Computer (FIC) now that it has settled its patent infringement lawsuits with Intel, according to sources.
VIA denied the rumor that it will close the division, but confirmed that it is indeed planning to hand over its P4 motherboard business to another company, on which it has not decided yet, and let the VPSD concentrate on developing mini-ITX EPIA boards." -
i875P-roundup @ NordicHardware
Published: Wednesday, June 25, 2003 | By: DennisRound-ups are really fun to read but are a major pain to produce. Not to mention expensive in some cases. NordicHardware has 5 Canterwood boards under the scope for your reading enjoyment.
"Time has finally come for us here at NordicHardware to post our Canterwood roundup. This article has taken an awful long time to complete due to the fact that this far this article has brought us nothing but trouble. Defective memories, crashed discs and so forth - just about everything that could go wrong went wrong." -

A couple of years ago a lot of companies were putting a lot money into development and production of micro-PCs. Unfortunately, they never got that popular. -

CompuCase Tower Review @ Techware Labs
Published: Monday, June 23, 2003 | By: Dennis"The magnetic latch for the front panel access for the USB, Firewire, and Audio ports is a further testament to the quality construction, as it works almost flawlessly with just a well-placed tap of the finger but doesn't open with randomn bumps of the case."
This is actually a pretty old design with a new pre-modded flair.
