  • Epox 4PCA3+ (Canterwood) Review @ Digital-Daily

Published: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 | By: Dennis

It would seem that Digital-Daily is the worldwide sister site to 3Dnews.ru which is a good thing considering that I can't read/speak Russan. tongue smile
"Epox 4PCA3+ is a high-end product offering high performance, powerful expansivity options (2 channels of SerialATA, Gigabit Ethernet, 4-channel RAID, ICH5R). Its price ($166) is comparable to that of some i865PE-based motherboards, so some scarcity of the package bundle is forgivable."

  • Corsair TwinX Review @ PCStats

Published: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 | By: Dennis

Matched memory modules is the way to go if you want to ensure the highest performance from you system though I've noticed that if the BIOS isn't up to snuff the low latency settings of the TwinX memory can cause some serious problems.
" To get the Corsair memory to run at 2-2-2-5 we simply flashed the nForce 2-based motherboard with the latest BIOS version which resolves this issue. Although we tested the Corsair TwinX on an I845PE, we have also run these modules on Springdale and Canterwood system without any problems."
Here is our review of the Corsair TwinX memory for comparison.

  • Thermaltake Aquarius II Review @ PC Abusers

Published: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 | By: Dennis

I have been doing more and more research into this whole watercooling thing (late bloomer I guess) and even though I don't think it will ever be needed for normal computer operation it is the way to go if you want the quietest system around.
"Overall I was pleased with the performance of this kit. Bear in mind, this kit was not designed for serious overclocking. Its designed for the enthusiast who wants water cooling without the hassle of modifying their case for huge radiators and fans. It does what it is suppose to do and that is to effectively cool a cool with minimal noise."
I really like the hose treatment to keep them from crimping. happy smile

  • MobileMaxx Hard Drive Rack Review @ PimpRig

Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Despite what it may seem, hard drive racks are by no means a new phenomenon. Anyone familiar with servers knows that they have been used for years. Although an IDE Hard Drive rack does not provide true “Hot-Swappable” capabilities, (being able to swap out a drive without a reboot), there is absolutely no denying the usefulness a hard drive rack can bring to a system"
Or you can set up a network and just copy everything you want to backup to those computers. big grin smile

  • Corsair PC3500 XMS Review @ Tech Lounge

Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 | By: Dennis

" I'm looking out my window right now, and I see two groups of midgets. One group has 10 midgets, the other has 20. The Processor will be the group of 10 midgets, and the RAM will be the group of 20 midgets (meaning the RAM clock speed is faster than the processor's FSB). The group with 10 midgets has the job of throwing rocks to the other group of midgets. The group of 20 midgets has the job of catching the rocks and dumping them into a hole. Even though you have 20 midgets catching and dumping the rocks in the hole, they can only dump the rocks as fast as they catch them."
shock smile I knew something was funny over there.

  • GeForce FX 5900 Ultra Revealed @ HardwareZone

Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 | By: Dennis

The site is a little slow at the moment but I think the review is worth it.
"NVIDIA was able to launch the GeForce FX 5900 GPU without too much delay because they have multiple teams concurrently working on various projects. As such, they are confident that by June, you would be able to land your hands on GeForce FX 5900-based graphics cards in retail."

  • Abit IS7 (Springdale) Motherboard Review Posted

Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 | By: Dennis

It has been quite a while since an Abit review has been featured here at Ninjalane and I'm sure it won't be the last. In this review we are looking at the Abit IS7 i865PE (Springdale) motherboard. This board supports the new 800Mhz FSB and dual channel DDR400.

Though the interesting part was how you could buy this board in the retail channels long before the official Springdale Launch on May 21st.

  • DFI Lan Party PRO875 Review @ 3dXtreme

Published: Monday, May 26, 2003 | By: Dennis

This new LanParty series from DFI is actually pretty slick and looks great under the blacklight. happy smile
"During our review of the DFI Lan Party Intel PRO875 we stumbled across a problem with Performance Acceleration Technolog (PAT). When populating all four DIMM slots the Intel Canterwood chipset disables PAT. After further testing I contacted DFI, DFI was able to confirm this same issue with their headquarters in Tawain. Using only two sticks of ram PAT was enabled. PAT is a feature that gets enabled by the chipset when certain criteria are met."
Thats good to know, I figured it was enabled all the time.
