  • Corsair TWINX Memory

Published: Tuesday, January 14, 2003 | By: Dennis

Paired memory modules for Dual Channel DDR applications.
"TWINX memory kits take the guesswork out of dual channel motherboards," stated John Beekley, Vice President of Marketing at Corsair. "By using modules that have been 100 tested, as a pair, in this environment, the user can be confident in the performance and stability of his or her dual channel system."
Sounds like a good idea to me. I wonder if it will actually work?

  • Koolance PC2-601 Case Review @ Buddhacon

Published: Tuesday, January 14, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Modshop watercooling + window". This could be an alternate title for this review. Basically you take an off the shelf Koolance case, "enhance" it with a Cheiftec window, add some Xoxide swag and sell it for more. happy smile

All things aside if you are looking for off the shelf watercooling I'd say go Koolance. Now if you want something better, do it yourself.

  • Foxconn Revenues Grow

"Foxconn Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry), the largest private company in Taiwan, posted its fourth straight month of record revenues at NT$29.015 billion for December 2002, closing the year with a staggering NT$245.002 billion in sales, up 69.8% from 2001.

The company’s full-year revenue is expected to top the NT$300 billion mark this year."

Not to shabby for a privately owned company.

  • Nvidia to Sell NV30 Cards

Published: Monday, January 13, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Nvidia is said to have decided to handle all the design and production of new GeForce FX (NV30) graphics cards to ensure product stability and quality. According to industry sources, Nvidia will only release the more simplified NV31 and NV34 chips to card makers for product design."
Not many cards change from the reference design though I can see how this might make a few companies a little upset.

  • More Speed for the Pentium 4

Published: Monday, January 13, 2003 | By: Dennis

News.com is speaking of the new "Springdale" chipset from Intel, you may remember that Intel announced the "Springdale" during Comdex and pretty much caught everyone off guard.
" The Santa Clara, Calif.-based chipmaker is coming out with a new chipset, code-named Springdale, for Pentium 4 PCs. The chipset runs at 800MHz, substantially faster than the 400MHz and 533MHz chipsets currently available for Pentium 4 computers, according to sources close to the company. "
Being able to deliver is key in the tech sector and right now it seems that Intel is doing just that.
" The chip is expected to be discussed at the Intel Developer Forum kicking off in San Jose, Calif., on Feb. 18. Earlier, some analysts speculated that Springdale would come with a 667MHz bus. Desktop chip price cuts, which haven't occurred since November, will also likely occur around the same time to ease the introduction of the 3.2GHz chip. "

  • Albatron PX845PEV Pro Review @ Nexus Hardware

Yet another Albatron review, and yet another ruined board with the floppy connector in the wrong spot. But who am I to judge. big grin smile

  • Aopen MK77M-V Review @ ExtremeMhz

Published: Monday, January 13, 2003 | By: Dennis

This is a cute little board from AOpen and has the a-typical PCB color, blue. This is your typical Socket A motherboard review though there is something a little a-typical about it. If you happen to check it out look at the page title for the review.

  • Overclocking the Intel 2.4B @ OCAddiction

Published: Friday, January 10, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Intel made great strides recently with the introduction of the Northwood Processor with a .13micron die as well as 512KB of L2 cache. Intel has since furthered this with the inclusion of the 533MHz System bus with it's latest processors beginning at 2.26GHz. Note the label showing Intel has intended this product to be installed by a professional."
They go on to clock the processor to 3GHz and show performance differences. 500+Mhz o/c's are quite common with the Northwood core provided you have proper cooling.

  • Pentium 4 Cooler Roundup @ Digital-Daily

Published: Friday, January 10, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Today we'll be looking into more coolers with the aluminum radiator and the same amount of copper-based coolers, among them "the heavy gun" - Zalman 6500B-CU. "
On the testing page they have a shot of the Intel "Sunflower" cooler that I eluded to in my Sunflower II review. Quite impressive IMO. big grin smile
