AMD Heatspreaders
Published: Tuesday, January 28, 2003 | By: Dennis"AMD cpu with metal cover spreader" I wouldn't expect that AMD would be putting these on current XP processors though imagine how easy it would be to install heatsinks and transport completed systems without the fear of cracking CPU cores.
. On a side note the K8 "Hammer" is expected to have these.

Quadro FX Preview @ Bjorn3D
Published: Tuesday, January 28, 2003 | By: DennisI would have expected this card to look like the GeForceFX but instead it actually looks normal even without ramsinks.

Asus P4G8X Deluxe (Granite Bay) Review @ Digital-Daily
Published: Monday, January 27, 2003 | By: DennisAsus has been making it pretty big with the enthusist market lately and with their overclockging controls you can see why. A pretty good review but the part that busted me up was this.
"Cons:
* RAID controller missing. "
LOL! Maybe its under your bed.Though last time I looked RAID controllers are optional equipment, so maybe they just didn't put one on there.

Realtek and Asustek, Who Will Use What?
Published: Monday, January 27, 2003 | By: Dennis"Realtek Semiconductor denied an investment bank report that motherboard maker Asustek Computer has stopped using its LOM (LAN on motherboard) and audio chip solutions, the company said in a filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchanged (TSE) today."
Is it just me or does just about every motherboard come with Realtek chips. Asustek must have been one of their rather large cash cows. -
Girlfriends Used as Bike-Race Prizes
Published: Monday, January 27, 2003 | By: DennisThis is a little unsettling.
" No longer content with money or the loser's motorbike as the prize, the winner now gets to take home his rival's girlfriend for a night as well."
-- snip --
" The girls, mostly teenagers, would be taken to nearby motels after the races where they were expected to stay the night."
Make sure to check out the fact box along the side to see how serious this trend could become. -
Japan - Human Traffickers
Published: Monday, January 27, 2003 | By: Dennis"When they arrive, they are told they are in debt bondage, sometimes for up to seven million yen' for their air ticket, food and lodging, said Ms Keiko Otsu of Asian women's shelter Help.
They are under debt bondage so they are actually forced to prostitution, confined 24 hours a day."
They would lead you to believe that the slave trade is alive and well in Japan. This scenario reminds me of a Cowboy Bebop episode where they un-freeze Faye Valentine and say she needs to pay the doctors 30million wo0longs for patching her up. Faye of course doesn't go into prostitution but the situation still would suxX0r. -
The Unindicted Federal Felon
Published: Monday, January 27, 2003 | By: Dennis"If you've ever used a peer-to-peer network and swapped copyrighted files, chances are pretty good you're guilty of a federal felony.
It doesn't matter if you've forsworn Napster, uninstalled Kazaa and now are eagerly padding the record industry's bottom line by snapping up $15.99 CDs by the cartload.
Be warned--you're what prosecutors like to think of as an unindicted federal felon. "A good read, I'd suggest you look it over.

A Little Downtime - Thanks Microsoft
Published: Monday, January 27, 2003 | By: DennisWell thanks to the SQL Worm being released over the weekend we had a little bit of downtime here at Ninjalane. The Worm had no direct effect on this site since we are completely msSQL free but it did have a profound effect on the rest of the hosting company's network.

Pictures of the new GeForceFX card are really quite scarce which makes me glad to see that AOpen has changed up the color scheme a bit. They say the card should be released in February -
Senate Votes to Stop Security Sweeps of Internet
Published: Sunday, January 26, 2003 | By: Dennis"The Senate has voted to bar deployment of a Pentagon project to search for terrorists by scanning information in Internet mail and in the commercial databases of health, financial and travel companies in the United States and abroad."
This is some good news for all of our personal privacy, I don't think it will completely stop but at least they are looking at the full circle impact.
