Well it has been a long day of shaking hands and walking all over the place but we survived and stayed awake long enough to post the highlights of Day 1 at Comdex.

Look for a followup to be posted late tomorrow.

  • Comdex Baby!

Published: Sunday, November 17, 2002 | By: Dennis

Well I am off to sleep since I have to get up pretty early to catch a flight to Las Vegas for Comdex 2002.

I am planning to post a page with pictures and commentary for the days that I’m there. Stay tuned, barring that Justin and I don't miss our plane we'll say hello again from Las Vegas. big grin smile

  • Logitech vs. Logitech

Published: Sunday, November 17, 2002 | By: Dennis

This is has to be one of the strangest reviews that I've ever seen, though since I've been really quite curious about the new MX500 mouse from Logitech, I figured I would check it out. To be honest I'm still curious. wink smile

  • The [H] Coverup

Published: Saturday, November 16, 2002 | By: Dennis

This is getting to be pretty interesting, Here is the skinny. Kyle posted a review of the new 3.06 P4 and shortly after posting the review the 3DMark graph changed. The number went from 17829 to 17329 though it is unclear to me if the numbers changed before or after Kyle got cr4p over it.

Here is a clip from the [H]
" After researching this fully for two days, I have been able to pull together 100% factual evidence that a single set of benchmarks in the 3GHz article were changed after publication of the article. The 3DMark benchmark was changed from "17829" to "17329". The fact of the matter is that we did not note this change. It is standard operating procedure that anytime a portion of an article is changed, outside spelling and grammar, it is noted and explained as to why the change was made. This was not done."

  • LifeView FlyVideo 2000S Review @ RadiativeNZ

Published: Saturday, November 16, 2002 | By: Dennis

This is kind of a strange review for me to post but... Hey sometimes is pays to be strange, just look at Jim Morrison.
"The LifeView FlyVideo 2000S is a PCI based TV Tuner, TV Capture, and FM tuner card. There are a couple of versions available, the 2000 and the 2000S, the only difference is that the "S" version supports stereo sound"

It would appear that the 3.06GHz Pentium 4 was the pinnacle news story for the entire week!

  • Tyan Tiger i7500 Review @ 2CPU

Published: Friday, November 15, 2002 | By: Dennis

It has been quite awhile since I posted anything from 2CPU.com and I kind of feel bad. sad smile Anyhow Hooz has posted his review of the Dual XEON Tyan Tiger i7500. This board supports up to 8Gb of DDR RAM two P4 XEON processors and will fit into a standard ATX case. shock smile" If you weren't already aware, the Tiger i7500 is the first and only E7500 board to be released on a normal ATX sized PCB. This is awfully handy for anyone who has a smaller server or rackmount case already... Hell, I even fit mine into an Antec SX600 series case (a feat I couldn't accomplish with any of the other E7500 boards I've had)"

  • Albatron PX845PEV Pro Review @ PCStats

Published: Thursday, November 14, 2002 | By: Dennis

The Albatron board is easily one of those love hate motherboards, I love the features and hate the layout. big grin smile
"My biggest qualm with the motherboard surrounds the placement of the floppy drive connector. With it located at the very bottom of the motherboard, users with full tower cases like the Inwin Q500 will have big problems getting the drive and motherboard connected."
I think the reviewer agreed. Despite the layout downfalls the board performs pretty well and if you are like me and don't use a floppy drive anymore I'd say "think about it".

  • 3.06GHz Pentium 4 Released Today

Published: Thursday, November 14, 2002 | By: Dennis

As you can guess (based of an earlier news post) the Hyperthreading enabled 3.06GHz Pentium 4 was released today and for the most part everyone that reviewed a processor liked the results.

Maybe one of these days I'll be able to review a new processor. *sigh* tongue smile
