VIA Will Request a Retrial
Published: Friday, November 1, 2002 | By: DennisThis lawsuit between VIA and Intel has been going on for quite some time now and VIA seems to be unwavered by it. I think this quote sums it all up.
Other board makers said that even if VIA loses the case, which targets the P4X266 chipset only, the result would not affect VIA’s sales much, as the chipset is close to being phased out of the market now.

Moddin an Apple
Published: Friday, November 1, 2002 | By: DennisI was just speaking to Talon about this the other day and he was very quick to discredit me saying that an Apple is already modded.
He was so unsure of what he was doing, he labeled every component, including all the screws, to make sure he could figure out how to put it back together again.
"I always end up with extra screws and parts left over," he said on his website.
The result is Blue Ice, a stunning, transparent G4 tower that lights up with fluorescent blue neon and has a nifty LCD screen mounted in the front panel.
"I hit the power switch and boom, half my room glows electric, icy blue," Salas writes on his site.
Kind of sounds like he knew exactly what he was doing. -
The Search Engine Mafia
Published: Friday, November 1, 2002 | By: DennisNormally I would discredit this news posting as an attempt to regain web traffic lost because Google hates them but, they do make a pretty good point."When you're No. 4 that plays well; when you fall off, you tend to lose phone traffic. And if you don't have the right relationship with Google to find out what you could have done wrong, you're out of luck," Ahern said, noting that this can have a dangerous domino effect. "If you're not ranked in Google, Yahoo won't list you. It's incestuous"

Ninjalane v2.0 Released - Finally
Published: Friday, November 1, 2002 | By: DennisWhoa, what is going on here??
Oh ya, I finally finished development on the much anticipated v2.0 of ninjalane.com. Aside from the graphics I would also like to draw your attention to the URL changes. Unlike the previous version, which was coded in Classic ASP (.asp), the new site uses ASP.net (.aspx). I ported over many of the pages from the previous site but due to consolidation some needed to be removed completely, please update your bookmarks to reflect the change.
Keep in mind that I'll be making code changes over the next couple of weeks so if a page is down or missing please check back in a couple of hours.
Thank you and enjoy! -
Happy Hallows
Published: Thursday, October 31, 2002 | By: DennisConsidering the holiday (so to speak) and the pending "launch" schedule later this evening *hint hint* I am going to take a day off from the news, but if you have a story you think is relevant feel free to send it in.
If you are dying for some tech news check out the Ninjalane World News section. -
Dell selling Apple's iPods
Published: Wednesday, October 30, 2002 | By: DennisI don't know what to think about this. Dell computer is selling Apple iPods, granted they are the Windows version but still, iPods?.
"Yep, Dell is reselling iPods," Apple said in a statement provided to CNET News.com. "We are delighted to offer our 5GB, 10GB and 20GB iPods for Windows through Dell's direct retail channel. iPod has been a big success to date, and we would like to make it even bigger"
You can thank Talon for the news post. -
Next Gen ATA Drives - Not Quite Serial
Published: Wednesday, October 30, 2002 | By: DennisAs I alluded to in the title this is still a parallel ATA hard drive with a few enhancements to tide us over until SATA is released.
"Some of you may say "But SATA increases bandwidth to 150MB/s." True, but the only way you're going to see improvements is through the burst speed of your drives and a 17MB/s advantage over the latest PATA standard, which isn't that much. When the densities of drives start getting higher and maybe a 10k spindle speed increase, we will start seeing drives flex their SATA muscle. " -
3-D Chip Bonding Technology
Published: Wednesday, October 30, 2002 | By: DennisThis could be the way of the future in chip design.
"The approach can join logic devices with memory, or logic with analog components, the company said. It could also be used to mount RF filters onto other RF components, or bond silicon or silicon germanium devices with chips made in III-V materials, the company said. " -
Asus Dual Channel DDR Board Photos
Published: Tuesday, October 29, 2002 | By: DennisI was quite surprised to find that this board was using the SiS DCDDR chipset instead of the Intel; I must be slipping since I never knew. Anyhow I will let the pictures speak for themselves, oh and as a little side activity try to count the extras, hint: there is a lot.
